Digital Agency: The Importance Of Wellbeing

Why is Work Wellbeing important in a Digital Agency?

It can be an exciting experience to work in a digital marketing agency. You need to adapt to the changing pace of work and keep up with industry changes. SocialB believes focusing on employee wellbeing is essential for a digital marketing agency’s success.

What is SocialB’s approach toward wellbeing at work?

SocialB’s team is a crucial focus of the agency. Their wellbeing is the center of everything. For a while, we have had a dedicated wellness team. This team ensures that everyone is cared for, from creating wellbeing challenges and discussing topics to develop, to organising round-robin coffee meet-ups. We hold regular mindfulness and yoga classes to help staff members de-stress and give them some time to relax.

Mental wellbeing at work

Although the societal conversation about mental health has advanced so much in recent times, many improvements can still be made in the workplace. Employees will feel more accepted if they are supported with their mental health at work. Allow them to have bad and good days, and provide space for them and their families to discuss and work through any problems. Mind states that 1 in 4 people will suffer from a mental illness each year. One in four staff group members could have a mental health problem that affects their ability to work effectively. We can help them find a way to recover from mental illness. Recovering from mental illness is not possible for everyone. While some people may have long-term mental health problems, others can work well.

Financial Wellness at Work

Why are finances still so taboo, particularly in the workplace? The UK is currently experiencing a crisis of affordability. This makes financial wellness at work a crucial topic. SocialB has had an open discussion about how to keep warm while working from home, how to manage long-term and short term finances, and what great apps you can use for financial empowerment. Juno is an educational tool that can be used by women and people who are not of the same gender, and Monzo helps you keep track of your financial affairs. SocialB organized for us to meet with a financial adviser and a group of financial trainers towards the start of 2022. This was to help us have better conversations about money and plan our lives more effectively. This was an empowering experience that helped to build a foundation for financial wellness at work. Open up conversations about financial wellness in your workplace. Break the taboo and empower yourself!

Social wellbeing at work

SocialB is all about creating a positive, inclusive and friendly work environment. This is the foundation of our wellbeing strategy. It is important for employees to feel at ease in their work environment, to embrace their differences and let their personality shine. Although it varies from team to team, we have found that food is a proven way to bring people together. We know it works for us, whether we host potluck lunches or BakeOff competitions.

Our staff also like challenges. We have some very competitive people! Sometimes the challenges are simple like walking 10k steps or drinking 2L of water per day for a week. But it keeps the team motivated and excited. Create events around what motivates and excites your team.

Workplace wellbeing

It was simpler to schedule a meeting with our team and reserve a room in order to conduct our wellness sessions in person during pre-Covid. We’ve had to adjust to working remotely. Like all other areas of work, it took some time before we settled into our “online” wellness routine. This didn’t stop the team from attending the wellness sessions. We started out by inviting colleagues to a coffee catch-up every Wednesday morning. This allowed us to have a little bit of our office life back by simply chatting over a cup a coffee. We’ve become more comfortable with the idea of doing our wellness sessions online. Some sessions are even better when we’re home (e.g., guided meditation and yoga). It shouldn’t be a barrier to your good health and wellbeing at work.

The Office is a place for employee wellbeing

We have a lot of fun at work and incorporate some wellbeing whenever possible. It is a great idea to have a pet-friendly workplace! You can do many things to improve your wellbeing. Creating a positive work environment is important, such as pictures of team outings and snacks on the wall. However, you can check in with your team members in many other ways. Lynsey Sweales is our CEO. She has a tradition of setting up “walking words” with one team member each week. This would allow her to take them for a walk and have an informal conversation.

  • Set health and wellbeing goals to encourage your employees to take on new challenges. This will help them to be more competitive in their pursuit of wellbeing. You can encourage it by giving wellbeing prizes to those who engage most. A Wellbeing Bingo game was played recently and it was a huge success.
